For the most part, this collection came together following a North Devon and Cornwall road trip; in which we we endured torrential rain, battled with pop-up wind shelters, carved endless games of naughts and crosses into the Ilfracombe sand, introduced our children to surfing and enjoyed an authentic Cornish pasty at The Pepper Pot (a storm tower which overlooks Summerleaze) - with lungs full of fresh sea air. And all of this seen through the eyes of a new kind of me; full of reminiscence and a new sense of mid-life awareness. It’s no longer 'young me' that’s being wedged into the back of a Citroen CX with the luggage and the travel snacks, instead it’s me that’s ‘Captaining the ship' and returning to the same seaside resorts that were such a part of the fabric of my own childhood.
